Radnor Hills and Ardagh Metal Packaging keep top golfers hydrated
We’re excited to report that we’re the official water supplier for a handful of DP World Tour golf tournaments this summer!
The DP World Tour was keen to keep their water supply chain as environmentally friendly as possible, so we teamed up with Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) to release co-branded, canned water for the events. Our spring water will be making its way to events including the Genesis Scottish Open, the Betfred British Masters, and the BMW PGA Championship.
Aluminium cans are infinitely recyclable, and, according to Metal Packaging Europe, they have a high recycling rate too, with 75% of aluminium cans recycled across Europe – the highest of all drinks packaging materials. Here at Radnor, we’ve been selling canned water for years and like to think we were one of the original trailblazers in this area. It’s also something we plan to expand as we reduce our plastic use.
Simon Knight, our Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the DP World Tour for the third year and to be supporting them with their sustainability strategy. Like us, the DP World Tour is environmentally focused and they were looking for a partner whose environmental goals aligned to create a cleaner, greener future.”
Maria Grandinetti-Milton, Head of Sustainability at the DP World Tour, added: “Removing single use plastics from our tournaments has been a key priority within our Green Drive programme and Radnor Hill’s metal beverage cans used by players, caddies and marshalls are a perfect complement to our spectator water refill stations. They are convenient, easy to recycle, and make a real impact on reducing a tournament’s environmental footprint.”
David Spratt, CEO of AMP, said, “We’ve enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with Radnor Hills and our partnership has evolved this summer with our recycling awareness campaign at sporting events across Europe, such as The DP World Tour.”
