Radnor scoops two awards!
Radnor Hills has won two prestigious awards at this year’s Powys Business Awards!
We were proud to be the first winner of the new Excellence in Sustainability Award, which is sponsored by Welsh Government and recognises those that are leading the way to a low carbon, low waste and sustainable future.
Judges approved of our continuous work to become more sustainable, to recycle everything we can and to protect our local environment. They highlighted our ‘zero to landfill’ commitment, our introduction of straw-free cartons and 100% recycled plastic bottles as well as our planting of more than 14,000 trees.
They also approved of our environmental management system and site having been certified to ISO14001 standard, our on-site recycling facility, and the fact that we have invested £1.8 million in a new solar farm to provide 21% of our energy requirement.
We were also named the overall Powys Business of the Year, an award sponsored by Powys County Council and which recognises innovation, sustainable growth and job creation and strong leadership.
Councillor David Selby, Powys County Council’s Cabinet Member for a More Prosperous Powys, said: “Radnor Hills has demonstrated a focused and committed leadership approach, where excellence in sustainability is at the heart of the business.
“Their continued reinvestment in the company, in terms of operations, people development and environmental standards, ensures their continuing strengthened position in the market place both now and in the future.
“In what is a challenging environment, the company are setting their sights higher in terms of their environmental responsibility which again sets them apart from the competition. We believe they are an example to others and make a worthy ambassador as a standard bearer for business in Powys.”
